Dr.Sarah Bennison is an educator, scholar, activist and social entrepreneur. She is on the faculty of New York University where she has been nominated for the 2024-2025 Steinhardt Teaching Excellence Award. She teaches a course on Achievement Culture, Mattering, and the American Dream and is the co-founder and CEO of the Mattering Movement, a non-for-profit whose mission is to create cultures of mattering in homes, schools and educational spaces. Dr. Bennison began her teaching career in NYC public schools in the South Bronx and has taught in schools and universities for thirty years. She is the creator of the Mattering Movement Curriculum and is a published author who speaks to school communities throughout the United States. Dr. Bennison founded the Trinity School (NYC) Office of Public Service, a thought-leading social impact and service learning initiative, and she is the founder of children's sleepwear company for social good BennisonGives which supports maternal and infant health locally and globally.

Dr. Bennison holds a Ph.D. from NYU; an M.A. from Columbia University; an M.A. from Columbia Teachers College; and a B.A. from Smith College.
