Mattering in Action
Mattering in Action brings the science of mattering to life — in classrooms, on campuses, and in communities. We believe every person has the power to help someone else feel seen, valued, and needed. That power is the foundation of healthier schools, stronger relationships, and more resilient young people.
Learning about ideas changes minds. Putting them into action changes lives.
WE MAKE SCHOOLS MORE HUMAN.
Mattering at New York University
As part of my Fall 2025 course Achievement Culture & the American Dream: Who Matters? students created and led a mattering pop-up in Washington Square Park. They shared the scholarship and science of mattering with passers by, interviewed people about their experiences with mattering, and made note cards where people could write notes or leave notes for strangers. A beautiful example of mattering in action!
